HR Leader Guide· a Bicycle Guide

Privacy

What we collect, and why.

HR Leader Guide is a reading site. We collect the minimum needed to serve guides and honor purchases, and we don’t sell or share reader data with advertisers. Ever.

Your email address

If you create an account, we store the email address you sign in with. Sign-in is by magic link — we never see or store a password. We use your address to deliver sign-in links, purchase receipts, and, if you request one, a note when a book profile you asked for is ready. No marketing list, no newsletter you didn’t ask for. These emails are delivered by Resend (resend.com), our email delivery provider, which handles your address and the message only to deliver it.

Purchases

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe directly and are never seen or stored by us. We keep a record of what you bought so we can keep delivering it — purchases are yours across every site in the Bicycle Guide family.

Downloads

When you download a guide ebook (EPUB/PDF), we log the download against your account. That log exists to honor your ownership and to calculate fair refunds — not to profile your reading.

No tracking for its own sake

We don’t run third-party ad trackers, we don’t run ads, and we don’t sell data. Our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps standard server logs — requests, timestamps, IP addresses — used for operating the site.

Analytics and cookies

We use two analytics tools to see which pages people read and how they find the site.

Vercel Web Analyticscounts page views in aggregate and doesn’t use cookies. It runs for every visitor.

Google Analyticsruns only if you say yes. The first time you visit, a banner asks whether we can use it. Until you click Accept, the Google Analytics script isn’t loaded, no Google Analytics cookies are set, and nothing is sent to Google. If you click Decline, it stays that way.

What Google Analytics collects if you accept

  • The pages you view, when you view them, and roughly how long you stay
  • How you got here, such as a search engine, a link on another site, or a campaign link
  • Your browser, device type, operating system, screen size and language
  • Your approximate location (country and city), which Google works out from your IP address. Google Analytics 4 doesn’t store IP addresses.

We don’t send Google your name, email address, account details or anything you type into a form. We’ve turned off Google signals and ad personalization, so this data isn’t used for advertising or tied to a Google account.

Google Analytics keeps event and user data for 14 months, then deletes it.

Cookies

If you accept, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies on this site (_ga, a random ID that tells one visit from another, and _ga_…, which keeps track of your current session). Your Accept or Decline choice is saved in your browser’s local storage (ga4_consent_v1) so we don’t ask again on every page. It isn’t a cookie, and it never leaves your browser. Signing in uses a session cookie to keep you signed in; that is needed for the site to work, so it doesn’t depend on this choice.

Changing your mind

Click Cookie settings at the bottom of any page to see or change your choice. If you switch from Accept to Decline, Google Analytics stops right away and we delete its _gacookies from your browser. You can also block or clear cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s opt-out browser add-on, which stops Google Analytics on every site.

Who handles it

Google LLC runs Google Analytics for us as a service provider and may process the data in the United States. Google’s privacy policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services explain its side.

Questions or deletion requests

Email mike@peopleanalyst.com and a human will answer. If you want your account and its data deleted, say so and it will be.
